Television Stories

I am a reporter for KOMU 8 News, an NBC affiliate local television station in Columbia, Missouri. I turn daily stories including topics ranging from health care to crime to politics, and are produced under tight deadlines.

I visited Ferguson, Missouri to cover the three year anniversary of the 2014 death of Michael Brown. My goal was to report on a different angle than the memorial service, so I focussed on business growth since the riots.

President Donald Trump kicked off his tax reform plan in Springfield, Missouri. I covered his speech and presented the president's goals.

This is an investigative story on the environmental hazard concerning trash in downtown Columbia. Many business owners reached out to the city, but the city did not respond with solutions until I began investigating.

Police informed the community of the dangerous dangerous trend of car vandalism. I reported on a citizen's personal experience.

It was the first cold day in Missouri and the city was conversing about it. With all of the buzz, I shot and edited a package during my general assignment day-shift. It shared tips for people to save money and energy in the winter.

There was a national IV bag shortage after a hurricane hit Puerto Rico. I localized this story and found four hospitals in the area struggling to buy IV bags. A hospital willing to talk was two hours away. While there, I shot video, wrote and recorded my script, and prepared file footage so the station could cut the package.

The county switched systems allowing officers to hear automated voices instead of human voices telling them where to go. This story tells viewers how this change will affect firefighters and EMS personnel.

Governor Eric Greitens gave his State of the State address. I covered the highlights of his speech and spoke with lawmakers to get their reactions.

Access to broadband is an issue for rural Missourians. Prior to this video, I worked on a two-month story about the lack of high-speed internet access. A lawmaker saw that story, and created legislation to help people get broadband. I covered the legislation in the video above.
