I produced the 5 p.m. newscast at KOMU 8 News. Here are three of my full shows.
Top story: Four children died in a fire. I had a reporter at the scene showing the damage. This story hit national news.

Structure: The A block included four live shots back-to-back. It kept the viewers engaged and the show running smoothly. All of the stories were newsworthy.
Top Story: 45 minutes before the show the Missouri House collected enough signatures to go into special session. We had a reporter down there covering the press conferences.

Structure: This show starts off with breaking news less than an hour before the show. We then transitioned into possible severe weather. This is something KOMU 8's viewers care about.
Top Story: Bill Cosby was charged on three counts of assault. This is a household name that the mid-Missouri community is very familiar with.
